About Dash Bio

Our Mission:

Dash accelerates drug development. By fusing advanced automation-native lab workflows and integrated software into a unified platform, we provide the biopharma industry with the high-velocity, high-quality, data-driven development solutions required to get life-saving therapies to patients faster. Dash seeks to continuously improve industry KPIs and materially reduce the time and cost to bring a drug to market.

Company Summary:

We are building the infrastructure for modern drug development. We are moving beyond the manual, fragmented processes of traditional service providers by taking a technology-first approach to bioanalysis. Our platform is tech-enabled, automated, and GLP-compliant with the goal to industrialize the scientific workflows that act as bottlenecks in the industry. We deliver next-generation preclinical and clinical bioanalysis results with unprecedented speed and precision.

We are a team of builders operating at the intersection of biology, hardware, and code. This is an environment for scientists and engineers who are tired of the status quo and are ready to apply their skills to solve hard problems at scale. We don't just run assays, we architect the systems that will define the future of drug development.

We are a place where employees are stretched to do the best work of their career. We are looking for engineers, scientists, and biotechnicians who want to make an impact on the world and leverage their skills in an innovative way.

About the job

Role Description

We are seeking a Lab Technician to join our Automation team in Waltham, MA. This is an on-site, hands-on role perfect for an individual who sits at the intersection of biology and technology. You will be responsible for the day-to-day execution of automated workflows, ensuring our high-velocity lab stays on schedule by operating liquid handling systems and managing the critical flow of samples and inventory.

You aren't just a "user" of technology; you are someone who wants to understand how the robots work, how the data flows, and how to make the system more efficient.

Key Responsibilities:

  • System Operation: Execute validated, high-throughput workflows on automated liquid handling platforms (specifically Hamilton STAR/Vantage and plethora of common robust bench top devices).
  • Queue Management: Own the daily production queue, ensuring that standardized samples are processed with precision and throughput targets are met.
  • Accessioning & Logistics: Manage the intake and "accessioning" of biological samples, ensuring data integrity from the moment a sample enters the building.
  • Hardware Troubleshooting: Perform basic maintenance and initial troubleshooting of automation hardware and integrated peripherals.
  • Continuous Improvement: Work alongside senior automation engineers to provide feedback on "production-readiness" and help refine standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Data Integrity: Ensure all runs are properly logged within our software platform and that physical samples match their digital twins.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Bioengineering, Biology, Biotechnology, Robotics, or a related field.
  • Experience: 0–2 years of experience in a laboratory setting. Direct experience with Hamilton Venus or other liquid handling software is a significant plus.
  • Operational Excellence: Comfortable with routine, standardized work; you take pride in clearing a queue and maintaining a "clean" production environment. Proactive in identifying and suggesting and implementing process/suggesting improvements.
  • Attention to Detail: High level of precision in pipetting (manual or automated) and sample tracking.
  • Communication: Ability to work on-site in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with a cross-functional team of software, hardware engineers and scientists.
